Cristiano Porqueddu plays the complete works of Barrios

I just got this today and can't stop listening to it. I think Barrios wrote the most beautiful music for the guitar. Anyone else have this and feel the same way? I highly
recommend this set of cd's to anyone.

Barrios Mangore wrote some of the guitar's sweetest (I mean for instance is there a piece sweeter and more lovely than Un sueño en la floresta?) and most beautiful works for sure! :D

I like how this a great reference set for the ABM complete works which is very important in case you want to get an idea of how a piece that's not played so much goes. Unfortunately to my ears the playing itself though technically competent is not up to par with John Williams, Alexander-Sergei Ramirez, David Russell, Antigoni Goni, Enno Voorhorst, Jeffrey McFadden and others who have recorded Barrios with more stylish sensitivity, warmth, color and beauty of tone. Just my opinion.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. I don't have the CD's you mention but I do love the mans work. I am more familiar with John Williams recordings although I have heard Cristiano Porqueddu play on youtube.

Yes, I do share the first poster's opinion on the Porqueddu recording, see

I treated myself to this CD set. It is a hefty volume indeed and I am enjoying listening to the playing of Porqueddu. I have no previous experience of his playing but he gives a good interpretation of the wonderful music of Barrios
:bravo:

I've owned this set for about a year and have come to really enjoy the slightly dry and sometimes un-romantic approach that Porqueddu takes, which is a nice foil for the warm romanticism of a lot of Barrios pieces.

I also love having so much Barrios to listen to. I would pull out at least a few discs from this collection most weeks.

Have to agree with Aryeh here, but all credit to Porqueddu for compiling a fantastic reference for lovers of Barrios.
