OFF TOPIC

I wonder who is it making such nasty comments?

Since the internet is an almost anonymous medium, I wonder if the comment was made by hyz himself.

I remember hyz (whichever one it might be) praising KL in the Acoustic Guitar forum.

FWIW.

Seem very out of topic, but since you mentioned, I just throw some quick view.

Hmm... I had seen Kevin Loh in a Masterclass plus one or two occasions coincidentally, I think. Personally, I don't like him on stage, even if he plays wonderfully. After all, Classical Guitar is a performance art. As an audience, if I don't feel connected, then I will not buy his ticket. Full Stop.

I do agree wi you. I have seen his performance few times and I am not at all impressed. To succeed in the highly competitive professional musician world you need more that pure musical skill. He clearly lack of good charisma as a stage performer.

Just look at pianist Lang Lang, violinist Sarah Chang or guitarist Roland Dyens on stage you will understand what I mean. The way they connect with the audience is the reason people will buy expensive ticket to attend their concert.

Sorry for derail from the topic of Yamaha guitar but I thought I just want to state my view.

Hope moderators don't mind the slightly off topic discussion. I think it is the duty of the older generation to guide the younger generation. We all have our weakness and inexperience. I have seen him play only on TV and I cannot comment much.

You are right. We all need to give some honest advice to the next generation of guitarist how they can succeed.

But some how I do not feel performer charisma is something can be taught. I may be wrong but I believe star concert players are born gifted.

The video criticizing Kevin Loh is in bad taste. Kevin definitely feels his music and is capable of weaving magic with his playing. Sorry if it hurts anyone, but he is as good as any of the other young masters from around the world.

I have just added a self-made armrest on my Yamaha GC41. Somehow even though the sound is nowhere close to the S.Yairi 950, I still prefer to play on the Yamaha GC41. Maybe the S.Yairi 950 is too precious to play often. I added the armrest because the finishing on my S.Yairi 950 where my forearm touches the edge of the body has shown sign of wear. I will be making one for each of my other guitars soon after I receive the rosewood. I will post a photo of the armrest when I have the time.

Hello all
new to the forum... good discussion here on the Yamaha.. Nice guitar HH!!! Been playing for about 2+ years. Price seems reasonable. Does anyone know where they are built?

If the young lad is playing a yamaha GC... then I wouldn't mind getting one !!! saw some of his other videos... pretty amazing... Only if they were Yamaha GC...

Thanks !!

I don't know what guitar Kevin Loh was playing in the referenced videos however I know that he has had at least two guitars from the Frankfurt based luthiers Brunswicker & Apelt. First it was a smaller model and later a full size model. Brunswicker & Apelt have a workshop near the centre of Frankfurt.

Wow, after all the mod you've done for your GC41, you probably can rename it as GC41+ or, TYPE-R. So any plan to down Turbo? haha! Chng your guitar!

HH, do you have sample recording that you can share? Is there a section here where you can upload this? THanks.

Yah! Must think of another name for my Yamaha GC41. I didn't think of that. Any other good suggestions?
