Cervantes Hauser PE vs Cervantes Rodriguez PE

Cervantes Hauser PE vs Cervantes Rodriguez PE

Postby kdines » Fri Nov 29, 2013 6:00 pm

Hello - I'm a new member and soon to start learning to play the classical guitar. I visited my local specialist shop and having narrowed things to the Cordoba C10 cedar, the owner suggested the Cervantes Hauser PE for consideration. So, I looked into it further and saw the Cervantes Rodriguez PE, which looks to be very similar but with a 'larger' body. I presume that this means the body is deeper and capable of more volume.

So, my main question as I continue to ponder my purchase is whether there is a particular reason for a beginner to choose - or avoid - either of these Cervantes models as a beginner. I am not a small person (6 ft 1 in) so the reach around a deeper body shouldn't be an issue.

Many thanks and take care - Kevin

I say try them all for as long as you can. Pick the one that sounds and feels most appealing. If you are learning with a teacher, take him/her with you. Good luck and have fun!

Hi - I emailed Cervantes and got some input straight from the horse's mouth, as it were! I hope to be able to compare both side by side and make a decision in the near future.

Take care - Kevin

"Both guitars are very comparable, the main difference is in the bracing and
tuning of the top, which translates into different sound qualities.
In general The Rodriguez sounds a little bit louder and the Hauser a little
bit sweeter, Any of this guitars are very good in giving you closer qualities of a
professional concert instrument. The question is which guitar feels better
to your hands. Both guitar will satisfy your need well in to a medium advance player"

I tried both in Maple Street Guitar Atlanta a couple of years ago, and they didn't impress me. Probably there are better guitars in the price range.
