...one good measure deserves another...

Note the file names -- I take the dash to mean a quarter note, no dash means an eight note and two for a half note. That seems to be what Jean-François has in mind.

Just learned how to work with a score editor...

...on the very next day... I thought about it a little more because of Chris's comment (Thanks Chris) and I've uploaded a new attempt. Not sure if this one is right either. Comments? I'm completely new to the transcribing game.

meanwhile, a little later on the same day, I listen again and decide I was right the first time -- I replace once again. :)

Mike,

The score doesn't seem to coincide in the first measure.

Chris, Sorry, I don't see the problem...can you say a bit more? :chaud:

I thought about again and decided that notes 3 and 4 should have been 16th + dotted eighth but after another listening I go back to what I had before. I don't see what's wrong. (?)

How I read the first measure of your score.

BTW: What editor are you using?

Hmmm, to my ear you are doing this. When I count 1e 2e ... on what Jean-François plays, I get 2 eighth notes lining up on 3 and the following e, as I notated it. I'm using LilypondTool on top of LilyPond. They are distributed under the GNU free license so you can download them for free. The note entry is in plain text e.g. the tune (as I think you played it) is g4 g4. a8 b8 g8~ | g8 r8 r2 | -- takes a little getting used to but I like it so far.

Encore, merci Jean-François!

Maintenant quand je l'ecoute de nouveau, je vois que vous avez raison.

Now, when I go back and listen to it, I realize that of course you are right. Not sure how I could have gotten it wrong. I changed the key to G major because G figures so prominently in that (first) phrase -- starting and ending on G. I don't know if that is the right way of thinking about it or not.
