Asturias Guitars

Postby JCPO » Thu Jan 18, 2007 3:04 am

I've owned two Asturias guitars over the years and would like to obtain a new one if they're still in production. Can anyone tell me if the Asturias guitars are still being made? And, if so, who is the US importer?

Thanks for your help.

Good question, JC. I have heard John Mills playing on the Asturias and it sounds marvellous! I'm sure you've done the obvious - searching through Google and probably found nothing which matches your query. Can't wait to hear any feedback from our fellow Delcampers!

Cheers,

Andrew,

I've searched every resource I could think of and have come up empty.

One of the Asturias guitars that I had was a JM-20. It was the one made to Mills' specifications. It was a great guitar that I should have kept.

AST100

Postby lifeson1 » Thu Jan 18, 2007 5:17 am

I have an Asturias AST100 I'm putting on the market, if you're interested. It's my concert guitar from my college days, so it's seen a bit of action. I'm concentrating so much on my electrics right now that it's just collecting a bit of dust. If you're interested, let me know!

Dear Pepe,

Thanks for the link. I didn't know that Asturias was Japanese! What a revelation to me. Sor's Prelude (sample) sounded just fine on this guitar. I wonder if anyone can tell me which model John Mills himself used for his recordings some 25 years ago?

Arigato!!

Cheers,

I've got that guitar, and had it 20+ years ago (John Mills 3456C) and cost me £600 (with case) when I had it. Wonder what it's worth now though? hmmmmm..........

Wow, I've said it before and I'll say it again - this forum is surely the best search engine you'll ever find for Classical Guitars! Are any of you interested in selling your Asturias (John Mills model) guitar?

Cheers,
Andrew. :D

Are ou located in the UK?, I don't have a case for it, and it's tone remains as it was though it's got quite a few sctratches and marks on it

If i wasn't selling it, i would give it a makeover, but can't seem to find were i need to go to have the cosmetics of the guitar corrected....

I have recently spoken with Kan Nagatani of the Guitar Salon in Santa Monica, California and was advised that they can order any of the current Asturias models. Looks like I'm going to be ordering a new Renaissance model in the not too distant future.

I have an Asturias AST-80. My brother gave it to me. I absolutely love this guitar. Great sound, highly playable. I have no motivation whatsoever to look for a new guitar. It is Japanese.
