Of course, the better the job you make of the joint, the fewer clamps you need.

Thats not true James, I'm shocked you actually said that......

OH, HO! Clean shot. I was going to ask if that thick black line was an epoxy filler but I didn't because one doesn't call out one's friends, does one?

Sorry Michael, can't work out if you're joking. If not, why don't you think it's true?

I'm not joking....... but you might spend some time contemplating it. I believe people always learn more this way.

It's ebony veneer....... I got tired of not being able to see the V-jiont, or it not making that big of an impression. First time I've done this, so far clients like it, what do you think?

Since you first suggested that 6 clamps were better than 1, I think I'll leave it to you to justify your position.

Perhaps you coudl show the finished guitar. You could increase the contrast by using mahogany for the head piece.

I'm quite confident in my methods, you are the one who says less clamps are needed if it is a good joint, and questioning me. So, again I ask you to think more about your statement, without me telling you the answer.

However, I will give you a subtle hint...... do you use water based glue?

Madinter in Spain will but when it is out of the EU they have a minimum order of 100 neck blanks and they charge for the documentation. Pre-routed necks don't require the same documentation so I don't think they have a minimum for those. I am quite happy with the neck they supply. The cedro blanks can be a bit hit and miss but overall I like dealing with them. I don't know what the shipping would be like.

Sorry Michael, I'm not into guessing games.

I suspect you may be making some false assumptions here, but it's difficult to tell if you're not prepared to disclose your thinking.

I'm sure you don't really need me to tell you why a better fitting joint would require less clamping pressure than a poorly fitting joint, do you?

I never mentioned "clamping pressure" please don't put words in my mouth.

How is me mentioning clamping pressure putting words into your mouth?

From your response, I think I'm probably right about you making false assumptions, but again, it's impossible to tell if you won't enlighten us as to what you're thinking is.

Because I never mentioned clamping pressure.

I never said you did Michael. OK, let's put clamping pressure to one side for the moment. Perhaps you could just tell us why you were so shocked by my statement "... the better the job you make of the joint, the fewer clamps you need."
If you're not willing or able to do this, then there's little point in carrying on this discussion.
