I just bought a guitar with african blackwood and it is very beautiful to look at and the sound is to die for(Im guessing this has more to do with the builder)
And I thought you just bought the Simon Ambridge's Torres copy....? So who's the maker for your new guitar?

I did but that was a long 6 weeks ago! I went hog wild and bought two! 2007 Tacchi bouchet and 2012 Wagner. Ouch! But I am in guitar heaven for eternity now. If this does not do it my wife is going to have me committed to a psych ward.

I hope the eternity is going to last for a while

Music is a big continent with different landscapes and corners. Some of them I do visit frequently, some from time to time and some I know from hearsay only ...

This is just another thread ... for those who might think that getting hold of a Stenzel guitar is something for them ... I'll continue the spruce/cedar thread as soon as I get some time to do more recording ...
best wishes
Robert

Your Wagner - is it really a spruce-top or rather a spruce/cedar double-top?
Because Gernot was not eager to build a pure spruce double-top for me, when I orderd mine a couple of years ago.
But after I heared a recital by Jason V. with his spruce/cedar it was clear that I wanted also this kind of top!
I got my Wagner finally in 2009, and I think this must be the first guitar he made using african blackwood for back and sides. Gernot said he would like to try african blackwood, after a lengthy conversation I agreed, and it turned out as a full success.
Of course I'm happy with this guitar until today!

African blackwood is a true rosewood and so may, I guess, be called "african rosewood" as per the OP. However, since ABW now commands a huge markup (secondary to probs with BRW supply and CITES etc etc), I've almost always seen it referred to as blackwood.
In my experience ABW shares some characteristics with BRW - price being one of them - but not all, and it is extraordinarily heavy, as has been noted. My ABW guitar is by far the heaviest I own.
Cheers,
Steve

I know of someone selling a Tacchi. But how to send message to you since you do not even have the function to send message on this board?
