Dowland, John; Five Lute Pieces - Video

Postby Diego » Wed Dec 21, 2011 11:41 pm

I don´t know if it´s ok to post like this. I found some recordings i did last year of 5 pieces by Dowland (one of my favourite composers).

I did a small video with the music of the following pieces.

My Lord Willoghbye´s Welcome Home
Lord Strangs March
Mr. Dowland´s Midnight
Tarleton´s Risurrection
Dowland´s Galliard

I made all this recordings while learning the pieces, basically i played them without repetitions making variations or little arrangements.

Hope you like them.

Diego

You gave a very convincing performance of these pieces...well done. :bravo:

Nice playing, but why does the title of your video refer to "Lute Songs"? Dowland did write lute songs (that is vocal pieces accompanied by the lute), they are of very high quality and often performed, but what you are playing are some of Dowland's solo instrumental "Pieces".

Edit - update noted :)

Thank you all for your nice comments about this recording. Definitely Dowland is one of my favourite composers. Bah renaissance period in general is sublime!!! Love it.

You are totally right about songs and solo instrumental pieces. I will correct the video ASAP. The thing is that i did the video really fast and didn´t pay attention to the difference between song and instrumental piece for lute.

Thanks again, be well.
