[PDF] Bach, J. S.; BWV 1007 Prelude in C

Postby mverive » Tue Mar 04, 2008 4:47 am

Having mentioned this piece in the thread on "Gentle, beautiful pieces", I tried to transcribe a version that is both somewhat challenging but within the reach of players at my level (early intermediate? - it will be a LONG time before I will be able to attempt the Segovia version of this piece!). In transcribing this I made a couple modifications to simplify the fingering, while hopefully not straying from the original too much.

This is my PDF score (I posted the mp3 in the "Our Interpretations in MP3" forum).

Thanks for the transcription, this is one of my favorite pieces but I'm not up to tackling it in it's most complicated form, so this is perfect!

I didn't include any of my fingerings, although I really should. However, my software doesn't really make this an easy (or even reasonable) task. Does anyone have any suggestions that won't break the bank? I'll search the forums, but any additional advice is welcome.

I posted a video of me playing this transcription in the "video interpretations" forum, in case anyone wants to see the transcription "in action".

Re: [PDF] Bach, J. S.; BWV 1007 Prelude in C - *UPDATE*

Postby mverive » Fri Nov 11, 2011 6:29 am

I have updated my transcription a bit, mostly the last 16 measures, and printed it to a 2-page PDF (instead of 3).

Now the ending is a bit more interesting, but it doesn't significantly increase the difficulty of the piece. I play this in the hospital all the time, and have received many positive comments.

Enjoy!

MOD EDIT: new pdf attached to first post.

Nice transcription. Is the original in C? I may look for the Segovia version as I haven't seen that yet.

I've been playing a Noad version in D for years and have that memorized. The Noad version is not very hard and came from one of his books.

The original was in G. I have played the Noad version, but wanted something with less use of barre, so came up with this one in C. It's fairly easy to play, even with the changes. I'm sure I'll continue to tweak it from time to time.
