[PDF] de Orto, Marbrianus - La Mi La Sol - Duo

Marbrianus de Orto (c1460-1529) was a composer at the court of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, whose favourite song was Mille Regretz by Josquin. This four part piece has become a guitar duet. Guitar 1 is playable but I have left fingering off as there are one or two places where there are multiple solutions and you might even want to move notes into guitar 2, though I am happy with where everything is at the moment. It is quite a hard play at a performing speed, (I have minim = 104 but that might be a bit pacy).

Here is a little clerihew

by John Cousens.

Josquin de Pres,
Famed in his day,
Case anyone forgetz,
he wrote Mille Regretz.
