[PDF] Costa, P. M.; Era de maggio, classic Neapolitan song

Postby orazio59 » Thu Sep 16, 2010 6:26 pm

This is my arrangement quite easy to play.
With youtube you can listen to the version of Andrea Bocelli to understand the interpretation
The verses are those of a love song. The first part is narrated goodbye during the month of May, between two lovers, who expect to find in the same places again in May to renew their love. The second part of the song focuses on the new meeting between the two.

This is a lovely arrangement, Paulo! I like your inventive harmonies. :casque:
:bravo:
I did a bit of research on this song. It was written in 1885 by Mario Pasquale Costa, who died in 1933.

My apologies, but I found the Bocelli version on YouTube to be a bit too much. I couldn't tell how the song goes!

If members search YouTube for Era de maggio, they'll find a few versions that are simply the song. I liked both of the versions by Roberto Murolo and Raffaella De Simone.

Thank you for introducing me to this heartbreaker!
:merci:

I'm happy you liked it
There are many versions on YouTube, you have good taste, because Roberto Murolo is my favorite interpreter of Neapolitan song.

Hi Alan, hi Paolo,

I had not realised what a goldmine of Roberto Murolo recordings can be explored on YouTube!

Best wishes, V :D

Ha ha! Only sometimes, amigo!

In this case, it was pure luck. I just picked out one at random.

As soon as I heard the guitar, I knew I was going to love it! :casque:
