New recording with new technique - "Northern summer waltz"

Postby Per Lindhof » Mon Jun 20, 2011 7:15 pm

Dear all

This is a link to a waltz I have composed for classical guitar. I hope You will enjoy it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMbJQlm26Kg

It's recordedwith my two Neumann KM184 in a NOS stereo configuration placed overhead pointing down to the guitar about 175 cm above the floor.

Guitar is Amalio Burguet 1A, audio interface is Roland Octa capture, software is Sonar LE 8.5 and I've added a little reverb with Studioverb2.

Strings are D'addario EJ46LP - Hard tension. They have polished basses that gives less fizz sound.

Comments and suggestions are very welcome

Kind regards

Beautiful. The recording realy brought out the richness of the instrument and the piece was wonderful.

My only suggestion -- clean out the dust underneath the strings in the picture down the next of the guitar. :)

Per,
I like this recording very much. It sounds very natural. Do you have version without the added reverb? I'm interested in trying to work out how much "real" reverb is in there from the room (I know you've treated it that's partly why I'm interested) and how much artificial reverb has been added.

Have you published the score anywhere?

Hi Fatwarry

Thanks for your comments.

I've made a version with no reverb and a few explanations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOuaCHQY ... er&list=UL

Actually I'm quite pleased with the non reverbed sound too but I prefer a little extra spaciousness from a nice reverb. I use a Studioverb2 from Sonar LE 8.5.

I have not yet published my scores. It will be my project for autumn and winther.
In a few days I will go on summer hiliday with my family in our sail boat for fiwe weeks so I will have a little break in my work :-)
