Molino, Francesco - Gavotte - Romantic Guitar Video

Postby kidneykutter » Wed Apr 12, 2017 12:19 am

Youtube

A charming Gavotte in rondeau form by Francesco Molino (1768-1847). Certainly has chords and effects not found in lute music! Performed by Daniel Shoskes on a Romantic Guitar built by Scot Tremblay.

As a lutenist I'm new to this rep and performance practice. I've done a bit of ornamentation on the repeats. Any sources to suggest how much was done at the time?

Super. I thought the varied repeats worked nicely...its just about doing what comes naturally within the style.

Nice :bravo: why use the Lute technique and not the philological one of the eighteenth century?

Still similar to what Sor recommended. No nails, pinky on the soundboard. My thumb doesn't come out comfortably anymore but I'm not using p i for runs.
