Hi,
I'm a 32 year old Irish guy living in Barcelona who's been playing guitar on and off for about 20 years. I speak English, Spanish and Catalan.
I started by learning popular songs (Scarborough Fair, Romanza, Wild Thing...) and scales (mostly pentatonic) and then progressed onto grunge, punk, metal, Jimi Hendrix, flatpicking, Delta Blues etc. etc. Nowadays I mostly play songs I learned years ago just to keep Given this patchy musical development I'm reasonably good technically, fairly good at performing and have a good sense of rhythm. However my musical knowledge has lots of gaps in it.
I'd like to learn to play the classical guitar to address the gaps and deficiencies I have in my musical education. I'd like to improve my sight reading and become more disciplined and methodical in my approach to the guitar. I also love classical music in general and would get great pleasure from performing pieces for others. For some reason I can't pin down I seem to be most attracted to Baroque pieces (probably Lute pieces and Bach compositions adapted for the guitar)...this is what I imagine myself playing. I presume that taking the lessons on this forum will expose me to a much wider range of music.
I look forward to participating on this forum.
Alan
