Scott Tennant method?

Post by Coda1998 » Thu Nov 10, 2011 1:46 am

I am new to this board and also new to classical guitar. I've read somewhere that Scott Tennant has a method with exercises for left hand finger independence. What is the name of the method? Thanks.

Hello CODA1998,
as a new member may I invite you to introduce yourself here?

Scott Tenant wrote a book called 'Pumping Nylon' and is available as book or book+CD. It is not a method book, but a technique handbook about classical guitar: sitting position, left and right hand exercises, warm-up routines, scales, arpeggios and tremolo. It's a must have for classical guitarists.

Yes, Pumping Nylon is what you are looking for.
There is also Scott Tennant's Basic Classical Guitar Method published by Alfred (3 books with CD and 1 DVD are out so far). It is still awaiting it's review here, but reviews on the web are not very positive, especially for it's price/value ratio and for it's language which some find frivolous.

I have bought the book. I have been learning the warm up routines from it. The new edition is included all 3 books (vol 1-2-3) with DVD and mp3.
