Excellent video with warm up exercises. Notice the space between each of her left hand fingers!

Thanks for sharing this Erik. Lots of useful exercises. I'm also amazed how much of a full tone she gets on the treble strings in these warm up exercises.

I don't understand what you mean here, Erik. Can you elaborate?

Nice video. It is always interesting to see what players do to warm up.

In order to achieve finger independence in the left hand, it is vital to have space between all fingers. My teacher corrects me every time when my fingers are squeezed together.

Thank you for posting Erik. Very good. I will have to try these exercises, as I am notorious for not warming up.

Ohhhhh. Gotcha. Yes, makes sense now. I *completely* misread your initial post. In my mind you were saying that she had a gap in her left hand! Ha ha! That'll learn me (as they say in Wales) for reading too quickly.

Pretty good exercises.

It looks like she is putting her left hand index finger right on top of the fret. Or am I seeing that wrong.

Anyone know what kind of guitar she plays?

- in one of other films from seria "Ask Tatyana" ms. Ryzhkova, answering questions from interested people, tells about and presents guitars that she plays.

She isn't, but you're not "seeing wrong", either. The close-up shot in the inset isn't straight on to the fingerboard but at a slight angle, so you're being misled by a parallax illusion. The wide shot is a bit more straight on, and more representative of where the fingertip really is--right up against the fret.

Good examples. I'm very doubtful she uses these every day though :)

She claims in the video that she does them before every practice session, for 15-30 minutes depending on time constraints. She doesn't say how often she practices, but the norm for professional classical musicians in general seems to be two practice sessions a day, 6 days a week.
