Request for postcards from around the world

Postby Kenbobpdx » Thu Apr 26, 2012 2:54 am

My 11 year old daughter is studying world geography and asked me to ask forum members if they could send a postcard to her school class. She would like postcards that show off your country or city. Given the global reach of the forum I thought this could be fun request. If you are willing to do this please PM me for her school address.

Thanks.

Cute idea Ken! :D

I'll be happy to disappoint her with a postcard of Mt. Hood!

Would she like from some 7000 miles away?? Sure I'll send some from my home town in Spain though I am not sure if she can pronounce the name properly "ALCAÑIZ" because in english doesn't exist the letter ñ (as in España), is an arab name derived from Al-Quannis (715 AD) meaning River canes/reed/cattail.

:) Ah, I see. I suppose everyone else knew that Portland was a hotbed of classical guitar playing. I need to get out more.

It's actually Delcamp that's a hotbed of Portland guitarists. :chitarrista: :chitarrista: :chitarrista: :chitarrista: :chitarrista:

Its because it rains incessantly here so we don't have much else to do but eat, play guitar, drink beer, and spend time on online forums

BTW, this little request is getting quite fun. My daughter, Rosie, thought getting a card of Mt. Hood from Alan would be pretty funny.

So far my daughter has takers from Spain, Mexico, Wales, Scotland, UK, Seattle, and Portland itself. Would love to see some other parts of the world represented like Croatia, Serbia, Iran (Aram?), Lebanon, Israel, Viet Nam, Singapore, South Africa (Derek?) and wherever else. I have had some enjoyable interactions with folks all over the world here. This is seriously fun.

I'm American but I'm working in Seoul right now. I'd be happy to send a post card if you want.

Good for you greenapathy! :D

I stopped by the post office the other day to buy a stamp for my postcard of Mt. Hood.

"Just one stamp for a postcard, please."

"Ok. Where is it going?"

"Portland."

He stopped and gave me a strange look. I had to tell him the whole story!

He agreed that it's a really cool idea of Rosie's...
