Medium Tension for Cordoba c10?

Post by fast eddie » Tue Aug 15, 2017 6:00 pm

I bought a Cordoba c10 a few months ago and plan to change strings soon. I believe I read on this forum that the C10 came with Savarez High Tension strings. I am wondering if anybody has any experience with medium Tension strings on this guitar?

Hey Eddie...I've owned a couple Cordobas (C9 and C12) and always switched the Savarez HTs out for good old J45s with a Savarez Alliance 3rd string. Worked great for me. So much depends on your playing style and tone preference.

I have Córdoba C9s for 4 years. I tried various strings...
About sound: " Savarez 500CJ and Hannabach 815HT treble + Augustine Blue base" seem the best. But I felt its tension too high. If I play it >4 hrs everyday, my left hand can not afford it.
I would recommend to use Augustine Imperial Red.
It was not good to use D'Addario EJ45 especially its treble.

It was Kenny Hill's design. His guitar seems very good to use Savarez 500CJ. It is suitable for playing less 2 hrs everyday.

The only way to know is to try as it all boils down to personal preference. In my experience, I've found Cordoba guitars respond best with higher tension strings, yet they still feel comfortable for the left and right hand when compared to other guitars. I'd probably recommend an Augustine Imperial Red set or a La Bella 2001 HT set

I would recommend you try Ramirez med tension strings with the carbon 3rd. They have sounded good on every guitar I have put them on.
