My new baby.

Post by Kevin L Benbow » Tue Sep 12, 2017 6:13 pm

I recently made a pilgrimage to Guitar Salon International in Santa Monica, CA. I was able to Play several fine instruments as I was considering upgrading next year. Out of the 5 or 6 instruments I seriously considered, a Purnell guitar (#93) made by Jake Fuller kept calling me back to it.

As I played it my wife, an ardent supporter of my playing and me defector roadie when I play gigs voiced concern that if we waited somebody else would come by and get it. So, we bought it that day.

The tone is beautiful and the build is very light. She responds very quickly, projects well, and is a pleasure to look at. This is the first Spruce top I have owned. I never thought I would change from cedar. The top and the responsiveness have already caused me to make minor changes in my technique to get the best sound I can.

The French polish is beautiful.

Here are some photos I took for my insurance company.

Hi Kevin

Try one of the online picture resizers such as picresize.

Reduce the size of the picture to below 300kb and, if necessary, convert to one of the formats this forum accepts; PNG is safe. Save the resulting file and you can then post here.

Good luck.

Is it the one that shows up on the Guitar Salon site if you google "Jake Fulller Purnell" by chance? If so, it looks and sounds awesome!! Congrats!

It is indeed. On GSIs Facebook page you can see photos of the build. John Paul graciously allowed me to Play the Ramirez that Segovia used from 1969 until 1979. Wonderful guitar. He also let me play a Smallman which I did not care for. The PURNELL is the guitar I kept coming back to in my price range after trying 5 or 6. I love the light build and the power.

Congrats Kevin. I just look on the GSI page and saw the pic's and video clips of your new guitar. Pretty easy to see why you fell in love with it - it looks beautiful. Both the clips on their site sound great. I especially like the sound on the Bach!
Kudos.

Yes, thanks for sharing...would like to see the pictures. I'm seriously considering the purchase of a new expensive guitar and it would be nice to have something to compare. :bravo:
