Straightforward question relating to given tempo of a piece

Postby zestymordant » Sat Apr 21, 2012 7:24 pm

Just a simple question I can't find the answer to, hoping somebody would help me.

Here is an example: If I see a piece of music that's in 3/4 and it says the tempo is "crotchet = 50" then I know it's 50bpm. But if it says "dotted minim = 50" what is the equivalent crotchet value? Is it 150?

Thanks...

Thank you. The closer I get towards senility, the more I'm finding that it rings true!
