1974 Masaru Matano 500 Classical Guitar
Solid Cedar Top
Laminated Indian Rosewood Back and Sides
Bone Nut (52mm) and Bone Saddle
660mm Scale Length

This guitar was made by the well-respected Japanese luthier Masaru Matano in the golden period of classical guitar making in Japan. The build quality of the guitar is outstanding and shows a great pride of workmanship.

The condition of the guitar is excellent. There are no big marks anywhere on it. There are no cracks or visible repairs on the guitar. The back has a few spots that look like finish discolorations.

The sound of the guitar is warm and Spanish with deep basses and strong trebles. It has great volume and sustain all around the fretboard as well as excellent sound separation string-to-string. It’s a concert guitar in every aspect and sounds better than current guitars being made that cost three times as much.

The action setup makes it very easy to play (about 3.2 mm treble side and about 3.9 mm bass side at the 12th fret). There are no buzzing or playability issues anywhere along the neck. The frets are in good shape and have been polished and leveled and the fingerboard conditioned. The neck is straight and there is room on the saddle (about 1.5 mm treble side and about 2.5 mm bass side) to go lower with the action if needed.

The guitar will come with a set of La Bella 850 Gold nylon strings. These are among the most generic nylon strings available and allow the guitar to bring out its voice without coloring or exaggerating it. This guitar does not need carbon strings to sound great. It has more than enough volume and clarity with the most basic nylon strings.

Wow! If there ever was an homage to a Ramirez 1a by the Japanese, the two recent guitars you have for sale are evidence of this. They are both beautiful!
2014 Ramirez 'Conservatorio' CD/IN
1975 Ramirez 1a Classical CD/BR
1976 Ramirez 1a Flamenco CD/CY

Yes, I agree. Both Matano and Tamura made excellent copies of Ramirez guitars and with their standard for quality, they preserve very well too over the years.
