Hi rburns. Your photo links don't seem to work. Maybe it's me, but I clicked on links and in brings you to a flickr sign in page. Cheers

I think you might want to accurately measure the length of the scale. While a luthier can make a guitar to whatever scale they wish, all the Ramirez 1A's that I have seen come up for sale regardless of vintage have been about 660 plus mm in length. If you do in fact have a 650 it would be a rarity, based on those I've seen or have read the advertisements on and possibly worth more to some people.

The label in the photo clearly says it's a 650. Ramirez began making 650s in the 1990s, in response to the large customer demand for this size.

It may be worth more to some people, but I am expecting to get what I paid for this one, not one penny more.

Thanks for the inquiry, and thanks for clearing this up David, information that is indeed on the label.

Rick,
That is a beautiful 1A spruce-top 650mm Ramirez guitar at a very reasonable price.
I wish you the best of luck with the sale. :D

Rick, ditto what tocapuro said. 8)

And it's nice to see that flintsghost's inaccurate statements were set straight.

Thanks Aaron, Riff -- I'm in no real hurry to sell this beauty so will bide my time. Perhaps my financial situation will improve over the next few months and my university will lift its salary freeze, following through with its supposed retroactive cost-of-living raise. If that happens, I'll take this off the market.

I bought a 1986 650mm Ramirez 1a from a luthier in this forum a few years back, and it is one of my favorite guitar as well.

Sorry to disappoint, but my statement was not inaccurate. The majority of Ramirez 1A's made to date are indeed 664 mm scales. The 650 is relatively rare and I merely suggested that he measure it to be certain. His link didn't work for me and apparently for others also so I could not see the label. I suggested also that if it was indeed a 650 it may be worth considerably more. Jerry Roberts in Nashville has a similar guitar in similar condition in a 650mm scale for sale as this is posted and is asking $6400 for it. Much more than a similar 664mm would bring. So apparently I was correct. You can put any spin on it you want, but I was merely suggesting that he might realize more than his asking price if he was correct and since in bad economic times which Mr Burns is apparently having, a higher sale price would be beneficial to him, he might be asking too low a price. Of course a person is free to ask as little as he wishes regardless of the wisdom of doing so. You apparently didn't think the price was low so you might be one who is happy to take advantage of a less fortunate fellow. I don't happen to be one of those myself.

Regardless of vintage. I think this is where your statement is inaccurate. I don't recall seeing anything longer than 650 for Ramirez guitars from the last 10+ years.

flintsghost -- I appreciate your earnest insistence in your accuracy, but the label is clear, and the link is working quite well. Specifically, the label is very easy to read: http://www.flickr.com/photos/18400977@N ... 827501081/ Have you re-tried the link, which displays photos in fairly good resolution? I seriously doubt James Edwards, the previous owner, fabricated or found this label and somehow replaced the old one with this one.

Finally, my friend, I want to make this sale especially appealing to you, assuming you might be in the market for a 650 1a. Therefore, flintsghost, I will sell it to you for $6000, just to ease your conscience, promote goodwill, and leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling of balanced reciprocity if you decide to buy it. :D Everybody wins.

Thanks for perpetuating your concerns. And thanks for your interest in my under-priced guitar.
