There is a company that now produces clear ping pong balls - and with my thumbnail always splitting every 4 months or so, I'm thinking about getting a couple of packages of these.

Wow! Clear nail material! Now we won't see concert players who are on the road with fluorescent colored nails. There was one guy who could only find green and pink ping pong balls at the local K-Mart when on tour and it added "color" to his playing!

Hey, glow-in-the-dark nails, too! I see a bright future in this - or is that just the ping pong ball material?

Hi all
I am 71 and new to the guitar ( started around 5 years ago) With steel strings. I sold my Huss and Daltons and Martins for nylon and i love them. I went to Walmart to buy some clear ping bong balls but they didn't carry them, I bought 6 white ($1.55), then i went over to Sports Authority they didn't have them either but there PB balls were $4.00 to $8.00. So i went home and put some on and i don't know what happened but i started talking in a high pitched voice. i wife now looks at me kind of funny and my golfing men’s club said i have to play from the red tees (women’s) LOL.
I really like the feel and sound and they were real easy to shape and put on with super glue. Can anyone tell me how long do they last? Thanks allot fun the great idea. Doug

From National Public Radio interview David Russell: Of Guitars and Pingpong Balls:

Whether he's playing baroque music or Brazilian tunes, Russell carries with him a special first-aid kit. It includes a nail file, clippers and superglue, as well as a pingpong ball or two.

"I pluck with my fingernails," Russell says. "If I break a nail, I can't cancel a concert. So I can make a nail out of a pingpong ball. I slip it under my own nail, and the consistency of a three-star ball is almost exactly the same consistency as a fingernail."
