Bach, J. S. - BWV 1012 Gavotte I and II - Video

Post by guitarspace81 » Thu Apr 13, 2017 9:57 am

Hello Delcamp friends,

Today I'd like to share my favorite piece of Bach's music, Gavotte I & II from Cello Suite No.6.
When I was young, I would give it a try and then give up so many times.
For some reason, there has been a giant wall between this piece and me.
Well, this time I gave it all I have, and although it is not perfect or enough, but I hope it'll give some comfort or energy to you during the busy days.

Thanks for letting me share as always. :)

Beautiful tone and intonation (it's so easy for the left hand to cause pitches to be slightly out of tune in pieces like this that have high demands regarding stretching and shifting and this was sweetly in tune). The performance approach and visuals were unique, and engaging for me because the phrasing and overall expression felt so genuine and the playing was skillful. My own approach to playing baroque music is very different but that didn't interfere with my enjoyment of this. I have to admit the teddy bear on your shoulder threw me off for a minute; but I like bears so it just took a minute. 8) And the water - well, I'll just say that I kayak so I appreciate a gentle sea. :!:

Lawler, haha, my bear threw you off.  The thing is, the bear is rather functional than decorative. I use guitar straps and the bear keeps the strap from slipping off my shoulder. I sling a hairband around the edge of the shoulder and hang it on the foot of the bear. So it's my little non-slip contraption. I have squirrels, bats, aliens as well. Thank you for your thoughtful, kind comments. I really appreciate it. :)
