Bach, J. S.; BWV 0997 Fugue - D11

Postby Denian Arcoleo » Wed Feb 06, 2008 9:34 pm

Hi all,

A while back I saw a thread about this piece, so I printed it off from JFD's transcription from this marvelous site, brushed it up (ok, I broke my fingers :( ) and here it is.
It is a very profound piece of music and I should have practiced it longer to do it justice, but it expresses very well how I feel right now.

I hope you enjoy it

All the best

Denian

Hello Denian,

Great playing as ever, and I bet you were reading most of that too, it's far too long to have memorised it that quickly.

Thanks for posting more of your amazing playing. :applauso: :applauso:

I enjoyed listening. Thank you Denian. Sorry about Alex's passing.

It makes me remember the symbolism of the rising chromatic line... rising above earthly hardship.

Denian,

You da man!!! Beautiful interpretation of a beautiful piece. I'm no longer surprised that you could play all these long and difficult pieces with just a week of practice. Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,

Dear Denian,

As always, your performance, interpretation, touch and taste delights me.

I take it from XLR's post above that you have recently suffered a loss. I was not aware. I am sorry and want you to know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers. All my best to you,

Rick

As always, Denian, your fine sense of intrepretation and control of every note comes shining through. Listening is almost like a private moment of sharing your introspection. Bach is always great, and your Bach is wonderful. Thank you for this gift and allowing us to walk along with you.

As I was listening I was trying to think what I could say, but I kept getting caught up in the music and didn't want to think. Tears came to my eyes. Your playing was simply...captivating.

I couldn't say anything more about your playing itself than Charles said.

This entire Suite has always made me feel how deeply Bach knew of grieving. Especially the Prelude... but I've never felt the poingnancy in the Fugue until now.

I'm very sorry for your loss and hope this offering you sent us helps you heal a bit.

My prayers are with you,

Alan

Thanks ever so much everyone for your kind words :)

Bach's incredible music seems to illuminate things deep inside the human psyche ( or as some say, the soul, but I'm not sure what that could be) and he was somehow able to turn those insights into music that allows us to see there too.

Thanks again

The gentle pace made it seem all the more emotional (not many performances of bach are emotional) and I had to hold back a tear

Hi D!

Well, as usuall, you're playing is just , ummmm, perfect.. :bravo:

Not only is the playing great, but the sound of your recording setup sounds so clean, and natural!

Even with the MP3 compression, it sounds really wonderful. About as good as i could venture to imagine.

Im really happy to see you made that investment. A player of your quality, deserves sonic documentation of the
equivalent.

Ok, now im just gonna sit here for a while, drink some hot cocoa, and listen to this Fugue over and over and over and over. :casque:

Thank you!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much Cam,Tonyyy and Hybrid!!

Hybrid, I decided to go for the Fireface because it serves as both soundcard and converter and also pre-amp. The pre-amps on it might not be quite as good as the Apogee you recommended, but they're good and the whole set up provides a really short route for audio to get onto my hard drive. The Rode's are terrific, very faithful to the original sound source. Thanks so much for your great advice.

All the best

Denian
