Schnabel Quintet

Post by musicbyandy » Thu Apr 11, 2019 5:23 pm

I searched "Schnabel" in this forum and found nothing regarding the Josef Schnabel Guitar Quintet. I especially enjoy the 4th movement Rondo from the Schnabel Guitar Quintet. Sometimes, I wonder if, as a whole work, do I prefer the Schnabel Guitar Quintet to any or all of the Boccherini Guitar Quintets. Do you prefer the Schnabel Guitar Quintet to any or all of the Boccherini Guitar Quintets? I also like the Kummer Quintet in C Major Op. 75 and the Sussmayr Guitar Quintet in C Major.

I confess to never having heard of this composer, let alone his guitar quintet. It's an attractive piece :)

I notice there's another recording on YouTube with an unusual looking guitar:

Can anyone identify it?
Eric from GuitarLoot
Renaissance and Baroque freak; classical guitars by Lester Backshall (2008), Ramirez (Guitarra del Tiempo 2017),
Yamaha (SLG 130NW silent classical guitar 2014).
