Do it your self support cushions - list of threads

Post by simonm » Fri Nov 28, 2014 11:58 am

At various times people ask about support cushions and some people find the standard commercial ones either too big, too small, wrong shape, slippery, not available and so on.

There have been a number of threads about making your own support but these are sometimes not that easy to find.

Here are a number. Please feel free to add to the list.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=86426 Uses the leg of an old pair of pants/jeans plus any available material for filling.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69780 Foam or possibly styrofoam with "fleece".

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64018 Styrofoam.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57676 A whole bunch of models in this thread. One with recycled foam, another "bean bag" style, another beanbag style with rice!

Thanks to all the people in the above threads who shared their ideas.

a couple of the threads list styrofoam as the base. ethafoam or mini-cell foam would be far better. both foams, especially mini-cell foam, can be shaped with a surform (inexpensive tool used to shape foam). both foams are not as rigid as styrofoam and do not crumble or fall apart like styrofoam. mini-cell foam has the most flex of the foams and would feel less hard on the leg and would conform much better.
