Brahms, Johannes - In stiller Nacht - duo

Post by sniggl » Sat Mar 13, 2010 8:58 am

Hi,

a little song by Brahms. The idea was to make an arrangement for guitar solo, but I think it is nicer as duo.
It is based on the version for choir. There is also a version for piano and voice.

Hope you enjoy!

Goodness!

That is a wonderful ensemble—I can see at once what appealed to you,

Many thanks, V :)

Some time ago I saw Luciano Pavarotti talking with a german talk master. He spoke with a completely different voice as known from his music. Obviously singing is not the same as speaking for someone who can sing.

So ... in your case it's just the same. The main difference is that I can call you in Munich and you are not in Tokio or LA or Rio on a concert tour all the time. :)

How lucky you are, dear Stefan! You have a beautiful voice!

Were you able to play and sing at the same time, or did you record separate tracks?

Thank you also for the YouTube link. What a lovely and sad song. It's 3 o'clock in the still of the night here, so this was the perfect touch for me to go to bed now.

To steal a word from one of the responders there:

"SUPERSCHÖN !!!!!!!

:bravo:

Dear Anthony, dear Alan, thank you for listening! I happy you liked it!

Alan: I just wanted to test, how my solo version for guitar sounds. but I was not so happy with it. So quite spontaneously I tried to sing along with the soprano voice. But after the first verse my recording session was interrupted by my children...

To sing this song and accompany oneself would be very challenging - there are some really difficult, but very beautiful chords. I had not the heart to make them simpler

Double brilliance, Stefan!
Your guitar interpretation and your singing are so beautiful together.
This is a great piece of music, but you have performed it so with perfection.
Thank you.

 Indeed she is.

I think that she's going to stop singing for a while, though. She cut her hair a few weeks ago and didn't save a lock of it for me. :( I love that red haired girl.
