Youri Soroka anyone?

Post by rinneby » Wed Nov 28, 2018 6:46 am

Dear friends.

Anyone had the chance to try a guitar by Youri Soroka? He's a young French-Ukrainian luthier based in Orléat. I like what I see and his construction is traditional using only hide glue.

Kind regards from Sweden

As a little update I can inform you that I will try one of Youri's latest build, hopefully sometimes within the next two weeks. He's visiting Dominique Field today to show this very guitar and later it will participate in Festival International de Guitare à Paris for two days.

All the best from Sweden

I bought the first guitar he sold to GSI https://www.guitarsalon.com/store/p5672 ... -spch.html After about 6 months, I can say while it had a beautiful tone initially, the sound has further opened and developed. I love this guitar, but I'm a 68 year old guy with severe shoulder oesteoarthritis and I may need a smaller, Torres style guitar to meet my needs. The guitar is not yet for sale, but could be if there was interest. GSI is about to receive their second guitar from him and already the price for his guitars has increased by $1500.

Hi Jon, the page is in French and Google translate does not work so accurate but pictures of his works looked great indeed. The back of that guitar you posted up there is very sexy, probably one of the best looking Amazon/Brazilian Rosewood... I noticed from some of the photos published on the website, there are some similarities of Youri's guitars and guitars made by Rolf Eichinger from Granada. Is this just a coincidence or did he happen to study or work together with Rolf somewhere in the past?
