What currency? I’m hearing good things about the prudencio Saenz 132 lattice , search guitarras de luthier for 1590 euros.

I'd go for one of the Cordoba "luthier" series. I'm not sure that there's anything better at your price range. The best is the C12, obviously, but they're all good. As always, try one out first to make sure you like it.

The Yamaha GC series is a good step up. I had a GC-32 which I thought was an excellent guitar. The only reason I didn't stay with it, was because I wanted to try a shorter scale. A GC-32 is within your price range, and I think you would notice quite a difference in the sound.

I would think - that if you're upgrading from a beginner instrument, any of the "better" guitars would be wonderful.

I have a Cordoba that I love. But I'm sure a Yamaha, Alhambra, Ibanez, etc. in that price range would also be fine. If appearance is important, get one that you like the looks of, etc.. Any instrument that really appeals to you (for any reason) is going to be the one you get the most enjoyment out of playing.

The trick is to find enough instruments in your budget to try. I found the big music chain stores to have only one guitar in my budget, if at all.
It says you are in Mass ... the store in Newton has a good selection of Cordoba instruments.
If you're out west, there may be something in Amherst or Northampton.
I tried instruments between $1,000.00 and $4,000.00 before settling on the one instrument, which was in the middle of that prices range.

Good luck

I know that you are likely to get as many different suggestions as you get replies, but my own suggestion would be to take a look at Raimundo guitars. Among factory-built instruments, they are quite good and their quality seems to be fairly consistent. I have owned the entry-level 104B in the past and I now have a 130 model, which sells for approximately 1250 $CDN. It is part of their "Estudio" line. Worth taking a look if you can find a dealer near you.

In that price range I'd go for a Yamaha GC32. Will be a huge difference from your CG142. What would be helpful though is if you gave any criteria or preferences in terms of tone, playability, etc.
