Kevin Aram 2003 guide price

Post by Christoph » Sat Jul 13, 2019 10:30 pm

I have a Kevin Aram 2003 (the bigger model ) that I don't play much these days, any idea of a guide price if I sell her?

Where are you?
Which market do you want to sell it into? That is, will you ship internationally?
What woods is it made from?
What is the measured action (reason I asked is I have rejected considering multiple Arams because of high action, hence this will affect its market)
Condition?
What tuners and case?

These would be some things you would need to tell us in order to get a reasonable opinion.

4000-5000 Euro seems resonable, if in good condition with acceptable action + Rodgers tuners.

Feel free to ask me anything about Japanese classical guitars.

Yes I'm in the UK don't really want to ship internationally the guitar is spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, Honduras mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, Rodgers tuners, action at the 12th fret low e string is 4.5mm and 3mm on the high e, there is some tiny marks but in good condition overall, I paid 5k from Kent guitar classics 7 yrs ago. I have seen one currently on reverb for 6.5k which seems overpriced to me

Yes, that is extremely overpriced.

Private sellers need to be mindful that they should not compete with dealers (whose price will incorporate their markup and VAT also, and who can offer a guarantee etc of sorts and after sales service). Rather, they are competing with the price of a new guitar, direct from the luthier.

Perhaps the best guide to what guitars actually sell for are the Classifieds here and the e - b a y "sold" price if a similar guitar has been listed. There was a 2001 Aram on e - b a y for 3K GBP back in March 2016 that I went to see. Thread here:
