The GR08 that I had (and dearly loved) was a '97.
I know that at that time, the GR08 was a part of Esteve's artisan class of guitars - meaning hand made by a small group of luthiers instead of mass produced.
If I had $550 I would buy it without a second thought.
My experience with Esteve guitars is that they are typically superior in sound and build quality to other comparably priced Spanish guitars like Cordoba, Rodriguez, etc. They are not mass produced/distributed the same - if you Google Esteve you will find Ron Hernandez who is the sole importer and distributor of Esteve guitars in the US. Ron is a good guy and personally sets up every Esteve he imports.
I think I saw in another post that you are playing an Alhambra 1C? The GR08 is a huge step up in volume, tone, etc.
I don't think you will be dissapponted.
