I just purchased one of these on the Goodwill auction site for about $400. It has the older Ramirez style headstock. After reading about it on various threads I'm very curious about whether it has solid back/sides and if it changed when did it change? Pictures online make me think the headstock changed between 1981 and 1982. Is this also when the length changed from 660 to 650? Did the back/sides material change at this point?
My 1978 Takamine C132 has the ramirez headstock, 660 scale, double plate back and sides. You can tell if yours has solid back and sides if the inside grain matches with the outside. My guess is yours is not all solid. Not sure at what year things changed. I'd imagine the newer ones don't sound as good as the older ones.

So do you think ads like this are just mistaken? http://www.keithhollandguitars.com/1977 ... c132s.html

I see a lot of this. I might also be getting confused because it looks like new ones have a solid back according to the manufacturer website: https://www.takamine.com/C132S

It looks like the detailing on the back changed between 1978 and 1979 from a single detailed inlay stripe to a less detailed triple stripe. Not sure I'm using the right words here.

I would guess that ad is incorrect, but who knows... My guitar first looks more like that first picture.
