I have noticed that both my Yamaha GC70 & Yamaha GC30A have identical sweet and very fragrant smell. Wonder if it was harvested from the same tree?

One difference here is the GC70 has a much stronger smell and it tends to fill the room with this fragrance. I didn't experience this with the GC30A.

This is Hideyuki Ezaki the luthier whom I believe design and build the Yamaha GC30B after Yamaha successfully launch the Yamaha GC30A.

Hideyuki Ezaki currently has his own range of guitar build under his name.

I am in the midst of looking into buying the Yamaha GC30B since I am unable to find a suitable Yamaha GC30A.

The GC30B was modeled after the work of Manuel Hernandez; Hideyuki Ezaki studied with him in Spain...great to see another picture of him closer to today!

I know that the GC30A was available in both spruce and cedar; the GC30B, I am not sure as I have only seen a cedar top version in, The History of Yamaha Guitars..."?

If I am not mistaken, the GC30B build from 1980 to 1984 has spruce top. If it is Cedar top, then I will nor buy

Congrats!
I can't wait to see the pictures.

How much they go for?
No need to tell me how much you paid, just an average

I have just taken possession of my 1980 Yamaha GC30A. The condition of the guitar is like a brand new guitar. It is as though it was left untouched since the day it was bought.

I will report on its sound and tone when the tension on the strings are more settled. But my initial opinion is it is not as loud or maybe the bass is not as powerful as the Yamaha GC70. Somehow I think the tone is richer than the Yamaha GC70.

Absolutely no regret buying this guitar
