Jose Vargas Machuca y Hijo

Does anyone have any info on an instrument maker named Jose Vargas Machuca from Arrquipa, Peru? I have a mandolin that was found in a rubbish bin in 1963, beautiful condition, it even had all its parts. The lable says that he won a gold medal at the Paris Exposition in 1940. This is all I know so far.I would like to have a history to send this lovely instrument into the future with.
Thanks,

Hi Ellen... "José and Son must have been prominent guitar builders in Arequipa, Peru, sometime in the 1950's or 1960's."

I don't know about the label though... if it was built in the '40s then this info might not fit

This is all I could find out but you probably have this info... if not it might be a lead for you
Other members might know more though so stick around

Welcome to the forum btw

Good luck
