Baroque guitar plans?

Post by jacobsonbrandon » Sun Oct 29, 2006 11:21 pm

I was wondering if anyone out there was building baroque style guitars. If so, where if the best place on the internet to obtain these plans?

The type of guitar plans I am looking for would resemble the guitar shown below in the attached photo.

Can anyone direct me where to go?

This is actually an early romantic guitar (also known as a parlo(u)r guitar, or senorita guitar) These are from the period following the baroque guitar... (which normally had 5 courses ~ eleven strings and tuning pegs instead of mechanical tuners)) There is a wonderful website that has many many photos and resources: http://www.earlyromanticguitar.com/

I used a drawing software program to scale/measure photos, and made my own plans based on reference measurements that I had found.... and by repairing old ones.

You can also find some here (Guild of American Luthiers):

Thank you very much for that information. I was having a hard time placing a time period on this guitar and was unsure of what to call this style of guitar.

The information you have provided me is very useful.
