Yes, I tune down my g-string a half step.
Once you get used to it, most Renaissance pieces are easier to play that way.

The steel string version was kind of an afterthought when I had heard Rob MacKillop on Yotube playing Dowland on a steelstring guitar.
While I like both versions, the steel-string version is especially impressing. I think this is a kind of Renaissance tune that could well have been played on a metal-string orpharion at the time it was written.
