Thanks for this contribution Andreas. It's great to hear an instrumental version of the piece. As you say, most of the versions you find have the vocal.

Your playing is beautiful. Everything about this video is top notch. A real pleasure.

I have a question about your guitar. The continuo basses that extend have frets under them. Do you play any compositions that require fretting those strings? I'm just really curious about that. Perhaps you could tell us a bit about the instrument as it is a unique design for a 10/11 string instrument. BTW, it sounds great!

Hello Kenbobpdx,
thank you for your kind comment.
You don't play fretting the 8 -11 strings. You can change the tuning. there are strings left enough .... :-)
It is a swedish Guitar, the same kind that Göran Söllscher is playing. Please take a look at: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=49393

Thank you for this beautiful recording and video. I am truly impressed by your instrument. I really enjoyed listening to this most excellent composition by Dowland. :) Thanks.

Q: If you dont fret the bass 8-11 strings, then why are the strings on the fret board and not floating?

Thanks for linking to your previous post about your guitar. Beautiful photos - I love the rosette pattern. I was unaware of alto instruments. Thanks for enlightening me.

Sweet! :bravo: We definitely need more instrumental versions of Dowland's songs. How about "In darkness let me dwell"?

Wow Andreas,

That was so pretty. I love it. I think that alto-guitar is opening up very nicely, too. Sounds so sweet.

PS Where can I find the score for the solo version?

I found this score online. Is this by chance the one you used?
