Weiss, S. L. - Paisane in A Major - Video

Post by kidneykutter » Fri Aug 28, 2009 10:05 am

A Paisane (Paysanne) from the sonata in A major in the Dresden manuscript (Smith-Crawford #16). This charming and challenging sonata exists in 5 manuscripts but has only been recorded once so far. Played by Daniel Shoskes on 13 course baroque lute, built by Andy Rutherford.

That was very enjoyable - thank you. Do you know if there is a guitar transcription for this piece?

I don't know of any specific guitar transcription, but versions of all the Weiss sonatas in standard notation can be found at:

Thanks Daniel to make us share these musical moments with your lute… :bravo:

I look at, and I listen to all that with very great interest, because I ordered a baroque lute last month! I hope to receive it before the end of the year… :P I prepare there, and you help me Daniel there. Continue to make us discover this repertory… I like that. :D

Congratulations! It will be very frustrating at first to teach your right thumb to find the basses and your right fingers to produce a pleasing sound, but all that early hard work will be worth it!
