Giuliani, Mauro - op.040/06 Allegro

Post by Jeremy » Thu Nov 01, 2007 5:48 pm

I decided to upload my first recording on here, an Allegro by Giuliani. Any advice on how to improve my playing of this piece is appreciated.

Hello Jeremy,

Well done! Congratulations on your first MP3!

I thought you did a really good job with this, a couple of buzzes here and there but nothing to worry about. Your sound if bright and I think you caught the mood of the piece very nicely.

Thank you very much for sharing your performance with us,

Best wishes, V :D :merci:

Hi. Well played! A very clean bright tone.

I have two pieces of advice (you did ask) -

1) I think you sped up towards the end (something I often do). I think the end tempo is good and you should start at this pace if you can.

2) Where things are repeated, the second one should be played quieter. I.e. on my score of this piece, bars 24 & 25 are f and the repeat (bars 26, 27) are mp. Similarly, 30 & 31 are f and the repeat (bars 32, 33) are mp.

Towards the end, bar 36 is f, 37 is mp 38 is f, and the final bars build from p with crescendo.

So it's the dynamics that you might wish to concentrate on.

Great job Jeremy! Congratulations on your first MP3.
I've heard this piece before, but I can't remember where. I really does have a catchy melody.
You played it very well and I really enjoyed listening to you play.
Thank you for recording this delightful etude and giving me the opportunity to hear you play.
