Giuliani, Mauro - op.015 allegro spirito

Post by mjbindy » Thu Jan 08, 2009 9:34 pm

recorded with great frustration at the very last minute to conclude my Xmas CD; just thought I'd share it with you all. I'll update it soon, I imagine, just to work out the awkward pauses in the middle section. Cheers, Matt

It's a lot of fun to play and only took me 3 months to learn ( )

I tend to add a bunch of unwritten inflections on this piece; I play some parts slowly as well; not necessarily true to the allegro description. In any case, I think it makes the work more interesting for the listener. I really love Segovia's interpretation from his Decca days. I have blatantly stolen several sections from him and wish I could play other sections like him; but those sections are uniquely my own ;) (for good or ill).

cheers,
Matt

Wonderful, Matt, just wonderful.
After an exhausting day, this certainly is a refreshing treat. I love the inflections that you have used.
I really have enjoyed listening to you play. Now, when can we expect the video?

Great performance (I play it slightly slower, not to make it easier but I find it gets more exppression that way, but thats subjective isn't it) :bravo:

Would love to hear the adagio and the vivace from the same sonata.

Well done. I liked it.
Between this and that it took me 3 month to learn just the last half page (and I still stumble) for a total of over a year
Thank you for posting it. It was long overdue on this forum :merci:

Yes, stumbling happens! After recording this for my Xmas CD I shelved it and have just recently began to practice it again for some upcoming volunteer 'gigs'... anyway, I stumbled through it today big time, worked on it for about 30 minutes, very slowly with metronome. After ~30 minutes, played it through, slowly from the top and was able to nail it (for the most part). It has it's tricky moments that's for sure. It is very rewarding for those willing to pay the cost.

Very well played, not an easy one! I used to play the three movements of op. 15 myself and I know how tricky they can be. :)

No really, nice rendition! Keep playing :)

Very enjoyable! :bravo: Fluent and musical. :casque:

I used to play this one myself too. It's great fun to play - such an exuberant piece - it takes you on a "joy-ride"!

Thanks for posting it.

Matt
Beautiful piece of playing.
It reveals your obvious dedication. Hope I can get there.
Is this on the Marieta?
