Giuliani, Mauro - op.010 Variations on La Folia - D10

Post by Marek Cupak » Sun Mar 01, 2009 4:36 pm

Hi all,

here's the music of Giuliani. Variations on popular rennaisance melody of Spain, "La Folia". Correct me if it is even older. In fact, I'd like to know where the theme occured for the first time...

Sincerely,
:bye:

Hi Marek,

Thank you, that was beautifully played! If you haven't already come across it, you'll find quite a large collection of historical and other details about the theme on http://members.chello.nl/folia/index.html

flameproof, mjbindy,
and all..

thanks for listening and kind words. well that's not the most important whether call it tune or a cyclic form of variations or whatever... i'm just happy when it does the trick and somehow "replenishes" listeners

Wonderful performance Marek. :bravo: And I really love your beautiful tone! :casque:

I also liked your sensitive phrasing and the imaginative use of dynamics was great too. It sounds as though you've put a great deal of thought in to how to present this piece. Well done.

By the way, do you know of Sor's set of variations on La Folia? I learned these some years ago, but have never played Giuliani's - maybe I will now.
