Lawson, Jeremiah - Study No. 16 in G minor in open G, bottleneck study - video

The G major study was an homage to country music legends Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, and Don Helms. It seemed fitting that the G minor study would be more an homage to Native American musical themes. The G minor study is loosely inspired by a PNW tribal song. It's in 7/8 which is not necessarily typical of PNW tribal music which doesn't necessarily conform to meter, depending on the tribe. The best way to take up the patterns of vocal glissandi, microtonal elements in melody, and other aspects of PNW tribal music was, paradoxically, composing another bottleneck study.
