Barrios Mangoré, Agustín - Danza Paraguaya

Post by leyenda » Sun Aug 10, 2014 10:22 am

although it lacks a constant pulse which is integral to the piece im happy with the arrangement. it combimes the original score with the barrios recording and a few bits pinched from elsewhere. Hopeful;y it keeps the joropo rhythm constant.

Great playing! :bravo:

It always makes me happy when I hear a good performance of this! :D

Have you heard Alirio Diaz's version? I think it's the best.

Thanks Lucy, I haven't heard alirios version but I did have the fortune to meet him at a masterclass and he signed a copy of invocacion e danza by rodrigo which I think was dedicated to him....a treasured possession now!
I remember the wording..."I'm sure you'll play this very well" lovely chap - I guess he's passed away now?

As far as I know, Diaz is still alive. The Internet says he's 90!

Incidentally, I met him at a masterclass too and he kindly signed my copy of a book of Lauro, that he had edited. Really nice that he wrote what he did on your Rodrigo! You must have been chuffed by that!

His version of the danza paraguaya is on YouTube, by the way.

Wow! I've heard a lot of recordings of this piece, but never this fast. I love how energetic it is at this speed.

Great job keeping it up at this tempo!
