Marko Räsänen wrote:You are pushing the string downwards with the finger you are doing the pull-off with, before letting it go, and this causes the pitch of the note rise before the release. To prevent this from happening, you should use the finger next to the one that is pulling to slightly push the string upwards to counteract the pull.
Marko, thanks for this advice, it's helpful and I will work on it.

I listened to your recordings which were generally very good. One thing I notice in the Paganini Waltz... you damp the bass string with your thumb before playing the next bass note (eg you play a bass A and then damp it with your thumb before playing the bass E in the next bar...). The effect of this is to leave a very slight gap in the bass line. I believe the preferred technique is to play the next bass note and then damp the preceding bass note immediately after it. So if you play the bass E and let your thumb follow through to dampen the bass A afterwards, you maintain the bass voicing...

Ned, generally you are right, but in this Waltz the bass notes' marked duration is only for the 8th note, and I believe that a staccato-like bass line is called for. At least that's how everyone (including yourself) seems to be playing it :D

Here are my submissions for lesson 3. My strings are needing to be changed by now, but I will probably wait till after my lesson 4 submissions. Thank you for listening.

There's now less clipping, but still some, especially the opening chord in part B of Greensleeves. Maybe still turn the volume down slightly?
You had a very nice articulation in Paganini piece, although I tend to not let the open 1st string ring with d#, but I guess that's a matter of personal preference. You're learning the pieces super fast :)
