Hi Tom, :bye:

Generally, you should use alternating 'i' and 'm' fingering. The score will often start with a suggested fingering in the first few measures and it's assumed you should continue with that until some other fingering is suggested in the score. Certain sections may need to be treated in a special way so you will see 'i', 'm', and 'a' symbols above the staff indicating what to use. 'p' symbols may appear below the staff where you should use the thumb in situations where you might not normally do so.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Bob G.

Hi Tom!

Welcome on board. We are not so many yet, but hopefully there will be some more soon.

Goran has earlier provided for our use his fingerings regarding some tricky spots in Marazula. Here is a link to lessons archive where you can find them:

Hello fellow guitar addicts,

the cost of convincing my son to practice and post his results in D01 is that he insists in me doing the same this year...
This morning did a first attempt to record Schiarazula Marazula and discovered practicing on acoustic and recording on classical guitar is not the same, or it's the recording stress...
Guess next time I'll record the whole practice hour and cherrypick the best repeat ;-)

Feel free to comment !

Hi Emmanuel,

I can't play your video, it says it's private. Maybe you should take a look at your YouTube settings...

And here is my first recorded attempt to the Arpeggi di tre note
AWKWARD right hand position, look like recording myself teaches me already something ...

and the inserted edit on Sept 28: Arpeggi di 4 note

and the first part of the polyphony
Notice how the wrist starts straight and bends more with every note :(

Hi everyone,

My name is Win. I participated in D01, D02 last year and will be continuing to D03 this year. Nice to know you all!
First comment to Cat! I'm impressed by how smoothly you played Schiarazula Marazula after only 1 week! Very clear and smooth. Apoyando were very clear and smooth also. Carulli pieces seems to be going along well too, a little more practice and it should be even smoother. Overall very impressed how much you got done in 1 week!

Pentti,

Nice to see you back! Very smooth playing as always! I'm very impressed with the speed you are able to get playing Schiarazula Marazula in just a week. A question, in the video of Schiarazula Marazula it seems like you are playing some of the notes with rest stroke using "a" mixed with free strokes, it's hard to see from the video. Or is my eyes just deceiving me?

Emmanuel,

Nice work on the songs so far! The recording for Marazula was a little soft, but the playing seems to be going smoothly already. It sounds a little staccato, a similar characteristic I have while playing that song. The arpeggios are very nice and smooth!

Hi Everyone,

It's nice to be back after quite a while. I'm getting off to a slow start with the first lesson being a little late. Anyway, the pieces are below. As always all comments are greatly appreciated.

Don't mind the background, my apartment was very untidy at the time of the recording!

D03 L01 - D01 p26 n1 - Delcamp Polyphonie - Apoyando

D03 L01 - D01 p26 n2 - Delcamp Polyphonie - Apoyando

Ferdinand CARULLI - Arpeggi di 3 note
I have a tendency to angle my hand outwards when playing pieces with bass notes on the 3rd string, which makes me have to move my hand up and down between 6th and 3rd string. I have tried to play with my hand position similar to free stroke (like Marazula) but my thumb cannot reach far enough to play the 3rd string as rest stroke in that case (just far enough for free stroke) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

D03 L01 - Ferdinand CARULLI - Arpeggi di 4 note

Giorgio MAINERIO - Schiarazula marazula
Still need quite a lot of practice before I can get this piece to be smooth

Hi Win!

It's nice to see you back, too.

Unfortunately I can't open your recordings.
Thanks for you kind comments.

You asked me if I'm using mixed both rest stokes and free strokes. In general, sometimes, when I want to emphasize something I could use a rest stroke mixed with free strokes.

You played the Marazula quite well within a week, Win. I don't see any error except some fingers touching the adjacent strings or improper fingering of LH that creates buzzing but I think you know about it during your recording and it will be improve with more practice. It's difficult piece to start the class with, especially on the RH.
