Hello Current D03 Students!
My name is Rick. I would like to VERY belatedly join your group with your permission. Let me introduce myself.
I started playing CG in 1981 and studied for 2 years with a great teacher, Gregory Coleman. He unfortunately passed away in 2005, too young. But he was a great teacher who gave me a very good basis in technique, sound quality and music theory. I also played piano as a youth, so I can read OK. I had to discontinue lessons, but continued to play for some years. Eventually, due to job, family and other reasons I stopped entirely (bad decision) because I thought if I can't put the time in needed, I may as well not play at all.
After retiring a year ago I am starting to get back into all of my old hobbies, like fly fishing and CG. The guitars came out of the closet and I started playing again. I found this site a few years ago. I tried starting at D01, then D02, but was finding myself getting bored with the material, though going back to the beginning was not a bad idea. Instead I've been focusing on re-learning all my old repertoire from 30 years ago. Now that I am back to where I think I was then, I am taking a look at D03, which I think is where I belong, at about a 2+ year student level.
I am starting WAY too late, I know. But I understand I have until August to finish, though the exam is in May. I'm trying desperately to catch up. Here are videos for lesson 1. I am posting lesson 2 today as well, and working on 3. I realize you've all moved on, but I appreciate any encouragement from this passionate group. I can also promise to pass on what I've learned from my great teacher, and other sources, if you let me jump in.
And yes, that is Segovia over my shoulder, a photo I took myself. I had the great privilege of meeting him in 1981 at a master class that I audited at USC.
EDITED 4/12/15 TO ADD THE FOLLOWING PIECE. FINALLY! I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS PIECE WAS SO HARD FOR ME. IT'S STILL A LITTLE ROUGH.

All this time I thought I was making music; it was making me.
