An early Christmas gift, just in time to get used to Jim's arrangements.

And of course :merci: to Jim for giving his permission.

I played through these last night. Generally quite good. There are a few harmonies here and there which I don't quite agree with, but that's just a matter of preference. There's certainly nothing "wrong" with his choices, they just are not quite what I might expect.

The one real quibble I have is that the set is laid out alphabetically by title, yet eight of the twenty selection require 6=D tuning and these are spread throughout the book. So for someone who wants to use this as a Gig Book, you either have to re-tune frequently, or re-sequence the pages. I'd have suggested using the concept of the old French lutenists, and grouping the titles in the book according to tuning needs.

Overall a very nice collection.

On the other hand, who wants to listen to eight consecutive pieces in the key of D?

Many thanks to you and Jim for posting these wonderful pieces. I just came looking today to the Forum to see if I might find some new music to play for my family this season. Thanks again.

Hi there, I'm hoping you can tell me how I could contact Jim Giddings about playing his arrangements in public for pay?
Thank you :bye:
