They famous minuet by Bach (not!). In the original key, credited to the right composer and with the G minor second minuet included.

Sadly no. Very few of his works survive and we can only speculate what else he wrote.

The minuet comes from a suite which was published in the 20th century, but I can't remember by whom. It would be good to see if the whole suite could be played on guitar or even lute.

Interesting; I had no idea a 'Christian Petzold' was a composer. There is a very famous German film director by that same name, in our time.

As to the composer's works, there are 10 of them at the IMSLP website, available for free. They spelled the name as "Pezold, Christian".

See here: https://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Pezold,_Christian

Or is that a completely different composer from the same era (seems unlikely)?

That's definitely our Petzold. The minuet is there.

Early manuscripts (and his signature) use Petzold. No idea why imslp have seen fit to change it.

IMSLP has the mniuets but unfortunately not the rest of the suite. It does however have two other suites not listed at wikipedia.

I did a quick search and found amateur recordings of the prelude and the sarabande from the G major suite on Youtube and also a score for an arrangement of the prelude for two treble instruments. They seem to be fairly well suitable for guitar transcriptions.

His viola d'amore suites may also be well worth checking out. They seem to be quite a bit more advanced than his keyboard works and I have a feelign that was his main instrument.
