[PDF] Marcello, Benedetto - Cantabile - Duo

I have just been reliably informed this piece is not by Marcello but it is the slow movement of a sonata by Marcello's contemporary, Giovanni Platti. I edited some solo pieces by Platti years ago but they are still copyright so I can't put them here. I will change the documentation and refile as Platti soon.

I was looking around for two line pieces to arrange for myself and my wife to play with violin when I saw this organ piece by Benedetto Marcello. Once I had separated the 3 lines and put it into E Major from Eb Major you would not think that it was not an original piece for violin and guitar.

I remember reading through a soprano vocal piece with two independent 'cello parts by Marcello, and could not believe how with every verse the music got better. The penultimate verse was a real alla breve show stopper followed by a slow apotheosis which was just so beautiful. I think it is out of print now other than in facsimile...... But anyway here is my little arrangement of this organ piece which is also charming in its own way.

Martin, Thanks X 3 (I will play this with a violinist, flautist and clarinetist in due course) - will try 'Pastorale' tempo and slightly faster in 'Siciliana' style.
